How to update your new Spacetop successfully

Getting started

After you've completed the Spacetop Unboxing, please follow the following steps:

πŸ”Œ It's recommended to connect your Spacetop with the charger to a power source
​for the initial setup process. You can connect to the left or right USB-C port.
​It's recommended to use the Spacetop original charger.

  1. Place the Spacetop on a table, and fold the cover under the Spacetop body.

  2. If you've ordered magnetic prescription lenses (packed outside the Spacetop back box), snap them on the glasses front. Place the glasses on your head.

  3. Click on the power button in the top right corner.
    The front LED indicator and keyboard backlight should be on.

  4. Follow the mini display progress on the top left corner ("Starting..."). After a few seconds, you should see within the glasses the Sightful logo, and then the "Welcome to Spacetop" animation.

    πŸ‘€ Note: If you don't see anything on the glasses after 2 minutes, or you see an error QR code on the mini-display, please hold the power button for 10 seconds for shutdown, and click again to power on.

  5. After 1-2 minutes from the click on the power button, you will see a floating WiFi menu that follows your view. Select a stable WiFi network (with a regular connection, without a portal with a password). If you get an error message, click on the button, return to the WiFi menu, and select the same (or another) WiFi network.

  6. Before updating SpacetopOS, Spacetop should charged at more than 50%. It's recommended that you keep Spacetop charging while your update completes.

    β€‹πŸ’‘ Tip: make sure your glasses are on the maximum brightness, by clicking on the brightness buttons on the right temple.

  7. You will see a mandatory system update message. Click on "Update Now" to download and install. Follow the download progress bar for a few minutes to make sure the download is progressing (download speed depends on your connection speed, WiFi reception, server load, etc.). You can remove your glasses, and return after 10-20 minutes.
    If the unit is ON, but you don't see anything in the glasses, try to click on the power button to wake up the display.

    ⏬ Note: If your download progress bar is stuck for over 5 minutes, and you can't return to the WiFi menu, please hold the power button for 10 seconds for shutdown, and click again to power on.
    Try to connect to a different WiFi network, or use your phone to connect to a hotspot network. The download size is ~1.1GB.​
    If you can't progress with the installation after several retries, please contact us at support@sightful.com.

  8. After the system update download and installation, your Spacetop will reboot automatically 2 times (you can see indications in the Mini-Display).

    If your Spacetop is powered off by itself, please click on the power button to boot and continue the installation process.

  9. Once the update process is complete, wear the Spacetop glasses again. You'll see the WiFi menu again. Select your WiFi network.

  10. Please approve the "End User Licence Agreement".

  11. Spacetop Early Access account is based on a Google Account (Google account required). Please connect to your Google Account using your WiFi and Password (Scroll down using two fingers swipe on the trackpad).

    πŸ” Note: Some Google accounts have special security measures, that might have issues with Spacetop's first login. If you are unable to enter with your account, try a different Google account, or contact us at support@sightful.com.
    ​Note: Once logged in, you can connect or disconnect any browsing account within your browser like on a PC, so the Spacetop login account isn't necessarily connected to your daily activity account.
    If you get an error while trying to log in, and you can't try again, hold the power button for 10 seconds for shutdown, and click again to power on.

  12. Finally, you are logged in. πŸ‘πŸ»
    Follow the Welcome and Onboarding experiences. In a few moments, you'll get to your virtual canvas and will be able to open Apps and browser windows.
    Look down to the Home bar hovering above your keyboard, and open a few Apps.

  • Hold and release the 2 Shift Keys to recenter your display.

  • Use a 3-finger swipe gesture forward-backward on the trackpad to move the canvas further or closer.

  • If the unit is ON, but you don't see anything in the glasses, try to click on the power button to wake up the display.
